Why half life 2 sucks
We all have those classic games we missed. For me that’s anything on the PC including everything put out by Valve. Now I have my 360 and have the opportunity to relive the past I missed.
All this to say for the first time I’m playing Half Life 2.
And though there’s tonnes of good things to say about it I’m only going to point out one thing…The audio design sucks. I have a fairly rag-tag/gutter-ific sound system for my TV bet regardless of whether I use the stock TV speakers or my big amp it sounds terrible.
Really, really terrible.
Some high pitched chirping alien bugs combined with my automatic weapon and it feels like I am:
- Destroying my speakers
- Destroying my eardrums
I would absolutely love for somebody to agree with me. I would love to know that somebody else noticed and I’m not crazy.
Maybe headphones help?

Having home theater systems is both exhilarating and tiring at the same time. It is like managing a flat panel tv and 2 or 3 dvd players at the same time. Old televisions were easier to live with.

Here’s another one for you.
Autosave points. Got to the beach highway, taking my little cart on an adventure, fending off gun ships, so far so good.
Make a crazy jump, land all wierd and find out that this save point is exactly where the gunship unleases hell on my face. And I’ve got 15 health points. I made a new game…it’s called try and stay alive for more than four seconds.
Lame.
Half life 2 sucks.

Bah! It’s four years old now and it’s still superior to lots of AAA titles being released.
Besides, that can happen in any game with a checkpoint system.

I wasn’t a huge fan of half life, partially due to the fact that I would get nauseated after playing it for more then 10 minutes!

Simulation sickness at work, there I think. I’m waiting to see what happens when Mirrors Edge comes out. Apparently they put a lot of work in to fix that.
I never had a problem with my Half Life 2 sound Mac. Although I was using nice School headphones. I would have been cheesed if I had payed $60 for it though. So short…

A lot of people say it’s way better on PC than on console, apparently it’s like WAY easier to play on console.
About the sound thing, I always play on my PC with headphones and actually liked Half Life’s sound a lot!

First of all, I simply hate the game. I don’t know, why would someone play that game (online). All you do is shot people coming from other side. It’s not even close to shooting game. It lacks a cool game menu…. There are not a lot of weapons and the place it too short to play.
For your sound problem, you have have messed the options.

oh come on!, after Metal Gear, it’s the best game ever… great game play, still to this day great graphics and simulation systems, and more important than everything else, great story.

I personally just don’t like the game. there are too many puzzles in the game and not enough action. i always have to look online to know wear to go next because nothing’s obvious in the game.

Just me, i luv half-life 2, i reckon u guys must suck at games, coz half-life 2 is fairly easy, i got past that jump thing on the buggy and faced the gunship with at least 50 health and around 25 armor, i finnished the game with ease, and if u havnt finnished the game, it leaves u in suspense, seriously.
Oh but wot would i knw about consoles, Consoles are shit, play this game on PC and u will knw what im talking about.
So Harden up, Get on a PC and play half-life 2, the source engine will change ur life of gaming, Oh plus Garrys mod is the shit!

If you look at the audio files in HL2, they’re very clear quality. The bugs noises aren’t that high pitch (I don’t even think they are at all).
Automatic Weapon, well then, I guess you can just go fire a real one! Wait a second…. That actually DOES ruin your eardrums!
Your own sound system is the problem, if you don’t wanna spend a crap load of money trying to buy an HD TV, just go buy a $40 Sound Chair from Wal-Mart and tada, HQ Sound!
Next Time, actually come up with REAL reasons, and analyze your own situation before flaming some genuine work.
